 | adoptee | | | I was 65 years old when I found out about my adoption. My father had already passed away and when my mother died, there was a letter at the attorney for me. Apart from inheriting everything (I was an only child), I inherited the new knowledge - that I was adopted at birth! This information came as a big shock, needless to say. I was extremely unhappy and disappointed at my mother for not telling me much earlier in my life. I was sad for loosing her, but also mad at her for leaving this information in a letter. But the letter also contained information regarding my biological mother which assisted me in finding my biological family. Turned out my mother and father are together and I have a big family - now we just have to "grow up and old" together. |

| | About Us
| Adoption Stories was created to provide a sounding board to those individuals who have had a similar experience as I did. Obviously stories will be told from a variety of angles - this is your opportunity to share what you have gone through.
Up until know we have not focussed on adding other information to our site e.g. the Registrar's details, other website links, etc. although we supply those details on request personally. Our primary aim was, still is, to voice stories, and get the information out there. Over a period of time the site has become so active and we have started to receive such a variety of questions that it made us realise that Adoptionstories.co.za has become a one-stop-adoption-site for local South Africans, as well as South Africans in other parts of the world.
We have therefore decided to add some of the information we are regularly asked for. If you have any thoughts, ideas, or information that our members might need, please let us know.
