 | Anxious |
| Looking for my beautiful son born on 6 November 1973. | I was only 16 years old when he was born but wasnt allowed to see him. In those days it was a real scandal if anyone knew about my predicament. I was sent to a catholic unmarried mothers home in Pretoria and it was lovely there. There was no question about keeping him (Brett) so I did what I was told. I wish things could have been very different but they werent and I havent ever stopped thinking about him.
I married and had two children - a boy and a girl - and they are just as anxious as I am in my quest.
Could you please help me.
25/6/06 I registered at the Social Welfare last year and queried this again with them in May this year (2006) as I had not heard a thing from them so wasnt sure what was next. I complained by fax to them as even their telephone numbers werent answered. Was told (24/5/06) that it could take a year or more for the search - on the 29/5/06 I received a letter from Social Welfare apologising for their bad service but that they have had several consultations with my son and his family (that means these must have taken place in less than 4 days )and that he was not interested in meeting me. It was like a slap in the face!!! The severity of this letter was astounding to say the least. For a welfare department who are there to serve the community - they could really do with a lot more training. This matter certainly will be taken up further until I know for certain that this is the case.
