 Adoption Stories
My Life....
I was adopted shortly after birth and had the most wonderful up-bringing. I was told from a very young age that I was adopted-as were my three other siblings. My parents had adopted 4 children in total.Sadly, my adopted dad passed away when I was just 15mnths old.In When I turned 18 I was shown my adoption papers with very little info regarding my biological mother on it as it was a closed adoption. However,I was brought up Catholic and when I was confirmed my cofirmation name that was given to me was my original birth name. This my mom did for all of us-she kept something of our beginninings. In 1989 I decided to trace my biological mother and even with the little info I had it only took me TWO days!!! I spoke to "M" on the phone and met her a week later. It was an emotional meeting but I made her promise from the beginning not to apologise for what had happened as I understood fully.

My adopted mom passed away 8 years ago without me ever having told her that I had traced "M" - something that I really regret not having done. This year, at the end of August when I turned 40 I invited my Biological mother to celebrate it with me. This she and her husband did and it was avsolutely fantastic. We both (all) realise that we cannot make up the last 40years but we can most certainly build a relationship now. I was truly blessed to be able to be the proud daughter of TWO moms - given to one and chosen to be adopted by the other!!!!
